Mission
Nordic United is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote and provide non-motorized winter recreation
opportunities in the Cache Valley area of northern Utah.
Organizational Objectives
Nordic United will do the following to accomplish our goals:
- Help provide groomed ski trail opportunities for the community.
- Develop programs to teach the community cross-country and backcountry skiing.
- Continue to obtain a variety of grants to meet our educational and community outreach activities.
- Create partnerships with other non-profit groups and government agencies, such as Stokes Nature Center, Wasatch-Cache
National Forest, Common Ground Outdoor Adventures, and the USU Outdoor Recreation Department, and then use these
partnerships to further non-motorized winter recreation in northern Utah.
- Actively participate in the planning processes that form policies regarding winter recreation on public lands.
- Document violations to public land recreation policies and provide this information to the public land management
agencies to better manage the resources and conflicts between users groups.
- Keep the community informed about current land management planning decisions effecting winter non-motorized
recreation.
Nordic United Community Involvement
Education:
- Sponsors cross-country & skate ski classes, and ski/snowshoe outings, for the general public.
- Informs the public regarding winter non-motorized opportunities available on National Forests.
- Promotes opportunities, through trail grooming, instructional courses, and recreational races, for the public to
enjoy safe winter recreation on National Forest land.
- Educates the community about the joy and health benefits of winter non-motorized recreation and the natural winter
environment.
- Promotes educational programs that develop an understanding and respect for conflicting winter recreation user groups.
Land Management Planning:
- Advocates protection of areas on National Forest lands that provide quality non-motorized recreation.
- Works with other user groups and public agencies to find environmentally sound solutions to conflicts arising
from increased user demands for winter recreation on National Forest land.
